The UN (United Nations) General Assembly (2018) declared June as World Food Safety Day . June 7, 2019 marks the first anniversary of World Food Safety Day . Through World Food Safety Day , the World Health Organization works to reduce the global burden of food safety and foodborne illness in public programs. Why is food safety everyone’s responsibility?
When food is unsafe, there is no food security and in a world where the food supply chain becomes more complex, any incident of adverse food safety has a negative impact on public health. Food safety, nutrition and food safety are closely linked.
The 4 basic principles of food safety are:-
CLEAN, SEPARATE, COOL and COOK. These principles are directly in line with the Academy’s four simple tips.
What is the safe temperature for food?
Eggs and all ground meat must be cooked to 160 ° F; poultry and poultry up to 165 ° F; and fresh meat steaks, cut and roast to 145 ° F. Use a thermometer to check the foods temperature.
5 KEYS TO SAFER FOOD :-
Key 1. Keep Clean
Key 2. Cook thoroughly
Key 3. Separate raw and cooked
Key 4. Use safe water and raw materials
Key 5. Keep food at safe temperature
You should,
- Use safe or purified water to make it safe.
- Choose fresh and nutritious food.
- For safety, choose processed foods, such as pasteurized milk.
- Wash fruits and vegetables when you want to eat them raw.
- Do not consume food outside the expiration rate
Food security refers to the routine of preparing, handling and storing food to prevent foodborne illness and injury. From farm to factory to fork, they may face any health risk during their journey through the food supply chain.
Adequate access to adequate safe and nutritious food is key to sustaining life and promoting good health. Unsafe foods that contain viruses, bacteria, parasites or harmful chemicals can cause more than 200 different diseases – from diarrhea to cancer.
Food safety risks refer to any agent that could adversely affect the health of consumers. Food safety hazards occur when food comes in contact with hazardous agents that contaminate that food.
Wash your hands and surfaces frequently.
Do not cross-contaminate.
